UUMC is not a place to sit still. Although its members look after each other with care networks for those who are in need of help in times of sickeness or grief, they also encourage and challenge each other to grow spiritually, intellectually and in their love for God and one another. Whether it's discipleship, Bible study, Sunday School, music programs, or special workshops and retreats, the members take an active role in growing with God. UUMC members also are active in mission projects to help the community as a whole, including several food, housing, clothing and art programs for the homeless, an annual mission trip to Honduras, and programs to lobby for social justice. Children and youth also are an integral part of the congregation, which emphasizes a wide variety of educational, spiritual and fun events for children, such as Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, choirs and Families R Fun activities. Finally, as a congregation perched on the University of Texas campus, student ministries play a key role in congregational life, with special services and events for university students.
